Alison Unsworth is an independent artist and creative producer.

Her experience spans art and design in heatlhcare; gallery education and artist-led learning; design of resources and products; and visual arts practice. Alison's approach is to lead, guide and support a project and its partners through a creative process, balancing planning and structure with taking risks and the opportunity for unexpected outcomes.
 
Alison has curated and managed commissions for art and design in healthcare programmes on behalf of Ginkgo Projects and WideOpen.
 
Alison is an artist member of the Contemporary Art Society. Her practice includes producing drawings, prints and sculptures and undertaking gallery exhibitions, commissions for building interiors and temporary works in the public realm. Examples include Things to Think With, solo exhibition at Vane Contemporary Art (2014); John Purcell Paper Award winner at the neo:artprize (2015); longlisted for the Lumen Art Prize (2015); group exhibitions with Fuse Works at the Front Room Gallery, Brooklyn (2013, 2009); prints commissioned by Northumbria University (2016); wall graphics commission for South Wolverhampton & Bilston Academy (2012); and outdoor installations commissioned by the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham (2005).
 
Alison has worked as an artist educator for over fifteen years. She has delivered over 200 sessions, working with over 6000 participants, and worked as a freelance artist for the learning team at Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art from 2012 to 2017.

Alison is an action learning facilitator, and has trained with Action Learning Associates.
 
She was a North East representative for Engage, the national association for gallery education from 2013 – 2018, planning regional talks and events for Engage members, as well as sitting on the national council of Engage.

Alison coordinates the Alexandra Reinhardt Memorial Award on behalf of Engage.
 
Alison was born in Preston, Lancashire and studied Fine Art at Falmouth College of Arts and Northumbria University.
